Broad-billed Sandpiper

Broad-billed Sandpiper in Teesdale; 31st May 2007

Having only seen one Broad-billed Sandpiper before, when news broke of one in Cleveland I was very keen to go.

After doing battle with a couple of tyre fitters I met up with Craig and we were soon on our way towards Saltholme Pools. We arrived at Back Saltholme Pools at 1930hrs in the evening sun. The bird was present and showing very well.

These birds are superbly charasmatic. So distinctly different from any other calidrid!
